"Calabash had amazing sunrise views! The outdoor furniture was comfortable and clean to enjoy every day. The apartment is modern with a clean and sleek look making for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. I can't say enough how friendly & helpful the owner and the apt manager were...they answered my many questions pre arrival and during our stay patiently and quickly. With the views does come with a 20 min walk downhill to town, which I knew about in advance. I did never brave the walk up and certainly not at night. There are friendly taxis available to help you up and down, but I may recommend renting a car if you want to explore and have more flexibility if you are a confident driver. We had a great time and see it being an amazing place for privacy and quiet, but also a nice large apartment for couples or friends to enjoy."

Ryan and Zee
Ryan first learned of Bequia through his uncle, who built one of the first expat homes there in 1968. Captivated by stories of the small Caribbean island, he dreamed of visiting one day. Zeenath discovered Bequia years later while searching for a remote meeting place with friends. Drawn to its name and untouched feel, she chose it instantly. In Christmas 2012, both arrived separately on the island and fell in love with it, yet never met. For two more years, they returned at the same time, always just missing each other. In 2014, fate intervened. Sitting on Lower Bay, Ryan opened Tinder and found only one fellow swiper: Zeenath. They met days later, just before he left, sparking a whirlwind romance. Soon after, they reunited in Big Sur, California, and realized they were meant to be and started their life together. They married in 2017 in Bequia, surrounded by loved ones, on the island that brought them together.
Owning a home in Bequia was never in doubt, only the timing and place. After months of searching, they found a local property called Calabash with an unmatched view. It needed work, but felt right. By chance, it belonged to a close friend who wasn’t planning to sell. After a few conversations, they purchased it in September 2018, and by January 2019 began transforming it into what is now Calabash Villa.
For Ryan and Zeenath, Calabash is more than a home, it’s a dream they want to share. They’ve poured their hearts into creating a modern light filled space that embodies the island’s beauty and tranquility, and they can’t wait to welcome guests to experience it for themselves.

Bequia —
a world apart
Seven square miles of hills, bays, and beaches, with no traffic lights, no chain hotels, and a pace of life that the rest of the Caribbean has largely forgotten. Getting here requires intent — which is exactly the point.
Princess Margaret Beach
A crescent of white sand with calm, clear water. A short walk from Port Elizabeth.
Lower Bay
The island's finest beach — wide, quiet, and fringed with palm trees.
Friendship Bay
A long sandy bay on the south coast, excellent for swimming and snorkelling.
Port Elizabeth
Located at the heart of the island, Port Elizabeth is not for sipping a cocktail on its sandy shores. It's most popular use is for accessing the daily ferry's and boats coming and going from the island. But it's still not to be missed for its adjacent open-air markets, shops and cafes.
Spring
This Instagram worthy, palm grove beach is on the north east end of the island. Although small in size, it makes up for it with its isolation and gorgeous setting.
Hope
Our home beach, Hope is known the island over for its wild landscape and coconut bearing palm groves. Its Atlantic waters also make it the perfect surf spot. Since it is only accessible via a foot path, you are most likely to have the wild beach all to yourself.
Belmont
The Bequia Plantation Hotel at the southern end of the beach is reached via the Belmont Walkway and is perfectly positioned to make the most of the picturesque views. Take in the scenery and tuck into one of the pizza’s from their wood fired oven.
Ravine
The only black sand beach on island, this secluded beach is known for its rocky points and massive waves.
Crescent Beach (aka Industry)
Located on the east of the island, this Atlantic water is choppier than the more tranquil waters you’ll find elsewhere on Bequia but this beautiful beach is protected from the rough waves by the reef so it’s a good bet if you want to snorkel.
Adams Bay
Head south, away from the airport, and you’ll find this idyllic beach with white, white sand. For swimmers who like company, the waters are often visited by manta rays.
Fly to Barbados or St. Lucia
Both islands have direct flights from North America and Europe. Barbados (BGI) is the most common gateway.
Connect to Bequia (BQU) Or St. Vincent (SVD)
Short inter-island hops run regularly from both Barbados and St. Lucia to Sir James Mitchel Airport in Bequia or Argyle Airport in Kingstown.
Ferry to Bequia from Kingstown
The Bequia Express ferry runs several times daily from Port Elizabeth, Kingstown. Journey time: 45 minutes.
Bequia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines

We'd rather tell you now than surprise you on arrival. These are the things we think every guest should know — most of them are features, not bugs.
The journey is part of it
Reaching Calabash means a long-haul flight, a short island hop, and a ferry across open water. It takes most of a day to get here. We think that effort is exactly what keeps Bequia the way it is — undiscovered, unhurried, and completely worth it.
You'll want a car
Taxis are friendly and plentiful, but renting a small jeep gives you the freedom to explore on your own terms. We're happy to arrange one before you arrive.
You're in the tropics
Geckos on the walls, the odd turtle on the terrace, and insects at dusk are part of island life. The villa is well-screened and regularly treated — but this is a living, breathing Caribbean home, not a hotel room.
Purpose built for island life
Calabash was designed to embrace the natural environment. The open-plan living areas are airy and light-filled, but not air-conditioned. The villa is built on a hillside to maximise views and breezes, with ceiling fans throughout and ac units in each bedroom. If you're looking for a traditional hotel experience, this may not be the right fit. But if you want to genuinely switch off and immerse yourself in the island vibe, you've found the right place.
All you need... nothing more
The villa is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay — but it's not a luxury hotel. There are no TVs in the bedrooms, no fancy appliances, and no unnecessary amenities. We find that guests come here to disconnect from the noise of modern life and reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves. If that's what you're looking for, welcome home.
Rain is a blessing
Bequia is a rain harvesting island, and we rely on the natural water cycle to keep the villa's tanks full. So we ask you to be water conscious during your stay. Also, rain is common during certain times of the year, especially in the summer months, but it usually comes in short bursts and is followed by sunshine. We find that guests often love the sound of rain on the roof and the fresh smell it brings. If you're hoping for a dry, sunny getaway, we recommend visiting in the drier months of December to April.
The quiet is the point
No nightclubs, no traffic lights, no all-inclusive resorts. If you want a packed schedule of organised entertainment, Bequia is not your island. If you want to genuinely switch off — you've found the right place.
Better suited to adults
Calabash has open terraces, a hillside setting, and an large glass walls. We welcome families, but the property is best suited to guests aged 12 and over. If you're traveling with younger children, please reach out before booking.

The most common route is to fly into Barbados (BGI) or St. Lucia (UVF), then take a short inter-island flight to St. Vincent (SVD) — around 30–45 minutes. From Kingstown, the Bequia Express ferry runs several times daily: a beautiful 60-minute crossing. We'll send you a detailed travel guide when you book.
Most nationalities — including the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia — can enter St. Vincent & the Grenadines visa-free for stays up to 30 days. We recommend confirming with your country's foreign affairs office before travelling.
Yes — and we recommend it. Driving is on the left. Roads are narrow and hilly but manageable. Rental cars and jeeps are available on the island, and a local driving permit can be obtained at the port for a small fee. We're happy to arrange a car for your arrival.
